The TIBI Blood Donation Drive was conducted at C Bhogilal & Co. with Samarpan Blood Donation Bank, in collaboration with National Thalassemia Welfare Society, on World Thalassemia Day in May, 2025. TIBI also led an awareness campaign, distributing brochures and speaking with people in a number of offices, cooperative societies and banks around the Fort Area in Mumbai’s financial district.
The Gift of Lift Fundraiser aims to collect INR 1,00,000 to support people with Thalassemia. There are more than 5 million cases of thalassemia in India. The funds raised from this campaign will be donated to the National Thalassemia Welfare Society to support their ongoing efforts with thalassemia patients. This will be especially focused on individuals from marginalised communities who often face additional barriers to healthcare resources and interventions. The TIBI-All Interviews are a series of conversations which aim to inform and educate the general public about Thalassemia with the help of experts. The interviews aim to not only gain insight into the medical aspect of the disease, but also explored ideas about living with thalassemia, reducing stigma, and fostering early awareness. The interviews so far include in-depth talks with Dr. JS Arora, who is the chairperson of the NTWS, and Mrs. Sangeeta Wadhwa, who is a psychologist and counsellor who founded the Youth Thalassemic Alliance.
The TIBI-All Interviews are not just a source of knowledge but are also a treasure of inspiring personal experience against the disease that affects so many in the country.
Ms. Sangeets Wadhwa, who is also a leading Psychologist, also held an awareness talk in collaboratio with TIBI and NTWS
In addition to donating to the National Thalassemia Welfare Society through The Gift of Life fundraiser, TIBI also worked with the foundation to distribute the LifePulse Kits at camps organised by the NTWS in Mumbai as well as Gujarat. The kits, which were designed in cosultation with the Society, included oximeters, folic acid supplements, and snacks, as well as games for kids, and were distributed among the people and communities the NGO serves. The donation also included the distribution of World Thalassemia Day Pamphlets at clinics.
A total of 400 kits were distributed across 3 locations:
Samarpan blood centre Ghatkopar; C Bhogilal Co. Fort (Mumbai, Maharashtra)
Camp at Kamdar Homeopathy college & Kamdar Nursing hospital (Rajkot, Gujarat)
In September 2025, I collaborated with The National Thalassemia Welfare Society to organise a webinar for those who are Thalassemia warriors themselves or are family members of those who are affected by the condition. The webinar, led by Dr. JS Arora and Ms. Sangeeta Wadhwa, was a way to not only raise awareness but also offered a platform to those who battle the condition on a daily basis.
